Legalize Everything
I had a thought recently. What if our reality was just the dream of another reality? What if peanut butter and jelly were somehow the answer to many of the mysteries of the universe? I know, weird. Then, I put those thoughts on hold and had another thought.
What if we legalized everything? Anything that didn't physically harm another person is perfectly legal to do. Sex, drugs, suicide — it's all fair game. Here's why I think this would be good for the world.
We let everyone do whatever the hell they want, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. This way, the smart people will try it, get tired of it, learn their lesson, and then pass this lesson on to their children. The stupid people will overdo it and die, and hopefully somehow take their children with them.
What do you think?

Interesting theory, but why not just create a SUPER DISEASE that does that anyway?
Oh yeah, its called AIDS!
Only one problem, how do you trust a stupid person? How do you know they’ll live up to their part of the bargain and not hurt anyone else? I mean, they’re stupid, you know?
i think we have lessons to learn from those over in europe who let their kids drink at like 10 so that by the time they're driving (at 18) they're tired of abusing alcohol and driving.

I fail to see how AIDS is targeting only stupid people. AIDS targets the poor, uneducated, and vulnerable people of this world. I'm all about keeping the comments non-serious on this site, but at the same time, taking the Falwell-esque view that AIDS is some sort of punishment for certain groups is simply not cool. Adrian T, I would recommend some research into the area of AIDS.
Oh yeah, love the blog Andy. :)
So basically you're saying... what if laws followed morality? Damn, what a concept.
yep, bad taste in that comment, adrian. sorry, hun. i'm a fan, but.
absolutely, legalize away. there are some drugs i'd loathe to see easily accessible, like heroin and meth, the kinds that can addict right off the mark.
but i smoke my dope like a feline devours fish.
it's virtually legal here in bc, and it certainly hasn't squelched the amount of indulging people do.

(and you're linked on my pad now. thanks.)
Not be funny or nothing guys, but coming from a country which has one of the highest AIDS infection rate in the world, I feel I have the right to call it the stupid peoples disease.
Why?
a) It spreads because people REFUSE to wear condoms because of their 'culture'or rather cultural beliefs.
b) Young babies (under two years of age) are RAPED because 'witchdoctors/sangoma's' tell them it is a cure for AIDS.
c) 'culture' dictates that you must have as many wives and girlfriends as you can. Oh, and don't wear a condom- its unmanly. Doesn't take agenius to see where this is going.
d) The PRESIDENT believes the disease is a result of malnutrition.
It IS a sensitive subject, but until people start taking note of their own STUPIDITY and SELFISHNESS and realise the consequences of their actions, I am gonna rip them off.
And whilst I'm fuming, living in Eurpope (UK)I can honestly say, they drink like fish. They get shit-faced EVERY day here in Scotland and binge drinking is a HUGE problem.
Thanks anyway.
Have a nice day.
Hi,
This week is the MKE 'Blog of the Week' semi-finals, round No. 1. The ten blogs who won in their respective 'Blog of the Week' polls in the past 10 weeks are facing off against each other. There will be four semi-final rounds this year, and the winners of each semi-final round will go on to the finals. One will be crowned the 'MKE Blog of the Year.'
Superhero won the Blog of the Week poll in week 9, so you are included in this first semi-final round. The voting page is at http://www.mkeonline.com/people/blogcontest.asp. If you have questions about the semi-finals or any other aspect of the Blog of the Week poll, feel free to e-mail me at webmaster@mkeonline.com. Voting is open until June 8.
Congratulations and good luck from MKE!

Producer, MKEonline
P.S. A few blogs, like Superhero, have ended/merged/moved. Feel free to post a note about the old blog being in the contest on your new blog or anywhere else.
That's evolution.
Maybe it is time we start weeding out the population of people who spray their eyes with windex instead of cleaning their contacts.
I want to agree with you, but I cannot, not as long as we have a moron in the White House. Having a moron in the White House bears a close resemblance to your proposed family scenario where "stupid people will overdo it and die, and hopefully somehow take their children with them." This is too scary to contemplate when one realizes that North Korea and Iran have or are close to having a functional nuclear (NOOKyuller?) weapon or two or three, and both countries are commandeered by their own religious wingnuts. Hrm, the first "War of the Wingnuts" (WWI?) .. I can hardly wait. Not.

Right on with the Bush stuff. We have to pass through the same stuff you do, living her and being ( governed? not sure of the word) by Fox, who says that mexicans who cross te border as illegal aliens take the jobs "that not even blacks are willing to take", I mean, what's the matter with that? are we doomed to be controlled forever by a bunch of assholes who can't even wipe their own... well you know, assholes.
As for the guy who talks about AIDS, maybe in Africa they have more problems with stupidity carrying the disease for you, but the fact is that AIDS it's out of control, and there's not much a "smart" person can do to avoid it, condoms fail sometimes, you know?, and what about the babies who were born with it, or people who have received contaminated blood, certainly it's not their fault they have AIDS. It wasn't mine or anyone's intention to give this funny comment by Andy such a serious aspect, but I just believe some of you (drove?) the subject that way.
Anyway, great blog, love your stuff
Well, nations' law codes notwithstanding, everything already is legal by the older religous codes they supposedly based the current national laws on... 1 Corinthians 10:23. Sort of makes you wonder just how conservative the conservatives really are if they're not willing to conserve this pretty old principle that, "everything is permissible, thought not everyhting is constructive."

Bloody fucking brilliant!
Interesting theory Adrian, but what about the woman who is married to a man for 10 years and he cheats on her with some office whore who has AIDS, and brings it to his wife. Is she stupid for trusting the man she married? AIDS isn't limited to the stupid. You yourself bring up a point. What about the babies who are raped (which is a topic that outrages me btw) and contract AIDS? Are they stupid? AIDS isn't just for the stupid. Because if it was, a lot of people I know (including our president) would have it.
We could then award the stupid people with Darwin awards... you know, for their effort.
yes.
that is it.
seriously. government needs to just let go of all these things it's got its hooks in.
and here's the brilliant part: when the government stops paying for all this enforcement, etc. on stuff that's none of their business, if we're really lucky, instead of taking that money and wasting it on some government subsidies or somesuch, they actually give it back to us! what a thought… people getting to keep money they've earned…
pardon me, but i believe all this talk of small government has made me soil myself.

I agree that everything should be legalized. And as for a bunch of stupid people dying out... I see no problem with it: the Earth cannot support our current population anyway, so it would be nice to get rid of the unwanted idiots of today. More Earth for us smart people to enjoy, and less idiots to annoy us. Perfect huh? Also, legalizing stuff like prostitution gets rid of pimps and if prohibition never happened, we wouldn't have the mafia/mob. By making things illegal, it promotes bad people/organizations like pimps and the mob, and like saitothesniper said, it will get rid of our huge government debt that a bush gave us and lower our taxes. B-E-A-UTIFUL!
Legalize everything means what to legalize?

Quite helpful data, lots of thanks for this article.
So, I do not really imagine this is likely to have success.
That kind of thing opened the gates for movies that they are questioning those things. (Avatar, Matrix and Inception)
